The Egyptian Version of Marilyn Monroe
Have you ever heard about the Egyptian actress Hind Rostom, she is one of the great icons of the classical Egyptian cinema which is considered the golden era of cinema in Egypt.” When the beauty of the east and the west meet in one female.” these words always describe Hind Rostom who had a great facial and physical similarity with Marilyn Monroe.
Although she had enjoyed a special eastern acting style, she had always been compared to Marilyn Monroe due to facial similarity and her blond hair. She has always been famous for playing seduction roles in most of her movies.
Hind Rostom was born in Alexandria northern Egypt in 1931 from an Egyptian-Turkish family. She started her acting career in 1947 and then she became one of the most famous actors in Egypt in the 50’s of the twentieth century. She was also known as “The Queen of Seduction” and “Marilyn Monroe of The East.” Unlike Marilyn Monroe who died at 36 due to Barbiturate overdose, Hind Rostom died in August 2013 at the age of 79.
